The story
The 13-star Betsy Ross flag, drawn in pastel pencil over about 100 hours and left loose, with every fold and wrinkle in the fabric worked in.
Fabric is harder than it looks. Each fold has a light side and a shadow side, and the stars and stripes have to bend with them.
I’m keeping the original because of what this country means to me.
This is my largest print, made at the drawing’s full size, 25 × 40 inches.
